Accessibility statement

How accessible this residency information service is, and how to report problems.

About this statement

This accessibility statement applies to the Gibraltar residency information service at residency.gov.gi.

This website is run by HM Government of Gibraltar. We want as many people as possible to be able to use it. That means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
  • listen to the website using a screen reader (including NVDA and VoiceOver)

We have also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

How accessible this website is

This website aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA.

It has been built to established WCAG 2.2 AA patterns throughout — including keyboard navigation, ARIA landmarks, colour and non-text contrast, visible focus, and warnings on links that open in a new tab. The “check if you can apply” tool is fully keyboard-operable and works without JavaScript.

Enforcement procedure

The Government of Gibraltar is committed to meeting the WCAG 2.2 Level AA standard. If you are not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact us again and your complaint will be escalated.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

HM Government of Gibraltar is committed to making this website accessible, in accordance with applicable accessibility standards.

We have carried out automated accessibility testing using axe-core, which returned no violations on the landing page and the eligibility checker (including the question, error and result states). Manual keyboard and zoom testing has also been carried out.

We are working towards full WCAG 2.2 Level AA compliance and will fix any problems reported to us. If you find an accessibility problem that is not listed here, please tell us using the details above.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

  • automated axe-core testing of the landing page and eligibility checker — 0 violations
  • WCAG 2.2 AA patterns applied site-wide (keyboard, landmarks, contrast, focus, new-tab warnings, machine-readable dates)
  • manual keyboard and 400% zoom checks

We plan to carry out further accessibility testing, including with screen readers, and will update this statement as we do.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared in July 2026. We will update it as we continue to test and improve the site.
